If you are a serious office app user, and have a Mac, I would think it would be normal to have and use both Apple and Microsoft office apps. If given an option, which would be your choice of. So what about just trying them out? They are cheap compared to Microsoft’s apps. Apple iWork and Google Docs are cheaper alternatives to the industry leader Microsofts Office suite. And others may LIKE how Apple apps look and feel.

What makes Apple stand out is the tie back to its free pricing. For instance, I find that Pages’ use as a layout program (brochures, posters, flyers, etc) makes it better than Word for lots of people. Both Microsoft 365 and iWork offer real-time collaboration for people to work on the same document together. On the other hand, the typical Mac user will appreciate the nice Mac-like interface of Pages. The typical Mac user will never need them. Eliminating all those distractions creates a peaceful environment for productivity and makes the iWork suite just as easy to use as everything else on a Mac. But I find that the features that Word has that Pages is missing are pretty obscure. Apple iWork gets rid of a lot of this clutter in favor of a cleaner look than Microsoft Office.
